On MLK Day, Eric Adams canceled on New Yorkers to go and kiss Trump’s ring on Inauguration Day. It is another reason why I am running for Mayor because we need a Leader and a Manager, not someone who will bow down to Trump.
Instead of lowering our cost of living and ensuring affordability, Trump’s terrifying executive orders support pharmaceutical greed, cancel drug costs protections for Americans, seek to end Birthright citizenship and pardoned 1,600 insurrectionists who sought to overthrow our democracy while assaulting police officers in acts of treason.
Adams, who canceled his MLK events in NYC to watch in the overflow room, continues to be silent as Trump promotes rising costs, unconstitutional actions, anti-Blackness and racism.
There is silence from Adams as Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement—again—leaving us vulnerable to greater climate damage and as Trump abandoned the World Health Organization once more, endangering public health and undermining global cooperation. These are all signs of an unserious and dangerous four years ahead, for New York and our nation, unless we demand change. Costs are too high, and we get back too little. We deserve the best and that’s why I’m running for Mayor.
Dr. King said it best, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends”. Unfortunately, Trump and Adams’ actions are saying everything. They care more about a Pardon than they do about the People!
