Statement from Michael Blake on December 6, 2024.
We must remember that Eric Adams has always been a Trump- lite Republican and, just like Trump, he changed parties because it would help him advance his own career. Let’s also remember that Eric Adams chose to be a Republican under the now-bankrupt Rudy Giuliani era, another beacon of law and
disorder.
Now, Eric Adams said directly on NY1 that he wouldn’t rule out becoming a Republican AGAIN.
In this moment, when families want clear leadership and core values, especially in response to the divisive Project 2025 Trump agenda that begins on January 20th, the fact that Eric Adams can’t say that he would definitely be a Democrat just shows that he cares more about a Pardon than the people.
While I will address cost of living with Universal Child Care, protecting the public from Public Safety to Public Housing to Public Schools, empowering Businesses to hire and our students to reach higher with My Brother’s Keeper, Eric Adams has now made it clear again that he doesn’t care if New Yorkers
win—he only wants himself to win.
Let’s not forget that on November 2, 2023, he was on his way to meet with The White House leadership in a DEMOCRATIC Presidential administration, where he supposedly would stand up for New Yorkers in the midst of the migration challenges. He skipped the meeting to rush back home to check on his fundraiser who was raided by the FBI. Eric Adams chose his campaign over the city. Eric Adams spent a Saturday night being friendly with Trump and Musk, instead of using night and day to help the people.
Eric Adams, the front runner in the MAGA Republican primary, is making clear once and for all that he doesn’t care about finding a solution for the community—he just wants a solution for his crimes. As Mayor Adams won’t say clearly that he will stand with Democrats, my public service continues to
protect our Democracy while living out my Democratic values.
I am Michael Blake, a lifelong Democrat, who served under President Obama in a Democratic Administration, led as a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, and am running to be your Mayor because it’s time for change from Eric Adams as Tomorrow Begins Today.
